In 2018, the AFM started with reviews of compliance with the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) (BES Islands) Act by financial services providers involved in the brokerage of life insurance. AFM working visit in 2018: mortgage market under review |
|
The AFM carried out a supervisory visit to the Caribbean Netherlands in October. During this visit, the AFM met with various institutions and relevant stakeholders. The findings of the 2018 Market Monitor, payment arrears and the Wwft BES were among the important topics discussed. The AFM also used its working visit to expand its knowledge of the mortgage market. |

Activities of the AFM in 2019 |

The AFM conducts its ongoing supervision in the Caribbean Netherlands on the basis of signals and relevant market developments. In 2019 we will be looking at the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft BES), illegal financial service providers and lending, among other issues. Announcement of the Market Monitor 2019 |

The AFM will publish the Market Monitor again in early 2019. This year’s issue will include further questions on compliance with the Wwft BES and the AFM will carry out stricter checks of whether the questions have been answered correctly.
